Gustavo M. de Almeida is a researcher at the Department of Energy Technology, School of Energy Systems, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT University), Finland, and associate professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG ), Brazil. He obtained his doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, in 2006, focusing on data analysis, signal processing, and industrial process monitoring. His research interests include machine learning, industrial statistics, and data visualization for Process Data Analytics (PDA) applications, with a main focus on process monitoring, fault detection and diagnosis, and soft sensing in the continuous process industry. He has participated in national and international research projects and served as a reviewer in several journals and on scientific committees at international conferences covering process systems engineering, artificial intelligence, operations research, and related areas.
